FOH Supervisor | La Jolla

La Jolla, CaliforniaFull-time
$40 - $45 hourly
About the Job
Birdseye is a rooftop restaurant and bar built around one thing: creating memorable experiences. Guests come for the view, stay for our offerings, and return because of how we made them feel.

We are entering an exciting new chapter with the launch of a refined food menu and an elevated cocktail program designed to match the setting. We are intentional, high-quality, and experience-driven. This is a pivotal moment for the restaurant, and we are building a team that can execute at a higher level while maintaining the warmth and approachability that defines us.

The Role
We are looking for a FOH Supervisor (Lead) who can operate as both a high-level service professional and a floor leader. This is a hybrid position, you will be serving or bartending while also overseeing the flow of service, supporting the team, and acting as a key point of communication between staff and management. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership of their space, and is excited to be part of a restaurant that is actively evolving its food and beverage program.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Lead the Floor While in Service (2-3 shifts a week):
  • Serve or bartend while maintaining awareness of the entire floor.
  • Step in to support teammates and keep service flowing.
  • Lead by example in hospitality, professionalism, and urgency.
Execute a High-Level Food & Beverage Experience:
  • Support the rollout and execution of our new menu and elevated bar program.
  • Ensure consistency in presentation, timing, and guest communication.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the menu and beverage program to guide both guests and staff.
Manage the Shift in Real Time (1-2 shifts a week):
  • Make staffing cuts based on business volume.
  • Monitor pacing, ticket flow, and guest experience.
  • Support hosts with seating and reservation challenges.
Communicate & Uphold Standards:
  • Relay menu changes, 86’d items, and service updates clearly to the team.
  • Ensure consistency in service standards across all positions.
  • Support execution of group dining and events.
Own Guest Experience:
  • Handle guest concerns and resolve issues with confidence and care.
  • Ensure every guest leaves feeling taken care of.
Support Operations:
  • Place orders for liquor, non-alcoholic beverages, and supplies.
  • Communicate maintenance needs and operational gaps.
  • Complete shift reports and relay key information to management.
Develop the Team:
  • Hold staff accountable to standards and responsibilities.
  • Provide real-time coaching and support.
  • Help build a strong, positive, and accountable team culture.

What We’re Looking For:
  • 4+ years of serving or bartending experience in a high-volume environment or fine dining.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred (but not required for the right person).
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to stay calm, focused, and solution-oriented under pressure.
  • A natural sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Interest in food, wine, and craft cocktails, with a desire to grow within an elevated program.

What This Role Requires:
This is not a passive leadership role. You are expected to:
  • Be present, aware, and engaged throughout your shift.
  • Balance your own section/bar with leadership responsibilities.
  • Make decisions in real time and stand behind them.
  • Support both your team and the business.

Why work with us?:
  • Work in one of the most unique dining environments in La Jolla.
  • Be part of a team launching a refined menu and elevated cocktail program.
  • Opportunity to grow into leadership within a developing concept.
  • Direct impact on guest experience, team culture, and daily operations.

If you’re ready to be part of a team that is building something intentional and elevated, that remains grounded in genuine hospitality, we’d love to meet you.
